How To Write Sincere Emails
If you saw You’ve Got Mail (and I hope you have because it’s a classic), you know Joe Fox was not being completely sincere with his identity. However, the content of his emails was completely sincere, which is why, in the end, it was a happy ending. Want to know how to shine in emails you’re sending “cold”, “lukewarm”, or “warm”? {youtube}6l7xH1Oyc7g{/youtube}
Tip 1: be sincere
If you are giving a sincere compliment that is authentic and from the heart, you won’t sound insincere or brown nose-y. Only people who ARE brown nosing and insincere sound that way. Because a person who can recognize insincerity and brown nosing, doesn’t like it, so they won’t do it. Someone who is insincere or brown-nosy doesn’t recognize it, because it’s who they are. Make sense? To which she responded: When they don’t know you and you’re writing to introduce yourself as a potential collaborator I think many people may read into it that way, even if you’re truly being sincere..
Tip 2: be sincere
Here’s the thing: if you have an ulterior motive, people see through it, because it is insincere. When you are first reaching out to someone, your motive should be to create a relationship and see how you can be of service. Therefore, if you are giving them a compliment it’s sincerely because you mean it which is why you want to start a relationship with them. Once you send it, you have no control over what other people think. All you can do is be you and they’ll be “your people” or they won’t.
When you are in person, you can see a person’s physiology, but in an email all you have are the words which is only 7% of communication, so choose your words wisely.
Tip 3: be sincere
Remember, if a compliment is from the heart, there is no doubt that you are being sincere, genuine, authentic, and acknowledging.
